Heather Medlock – 1934 – 2018
The Japanese Flowering Cherry was planted in 2019 in memory of Heather Medlock.
She was born in Braintree on 7th June 1934. She attended Manor Street School, and her first job was at the Maypole, in the High Street. She lived and worked in Braintree for most of her life. Her last job was as Manager of the Gift and Coffee Shop at Crittall and Wintertons in Bank Street. She remained active in her retirement, and was a member of the Methodist Church in Rayne Road and then Christ Church when the two churches merged.
She enjoyed her coffees with friends and chatting in the Public Gardens, especially in the warmer Summer months.
Her familiarity with Braintree provided her with much comfort, particularly after losing her husband and when Alzheimers took hold.
A much missed mother and friend, this Braintree lady passed away on 21st December 2018.
