It costs £15 or £25 for a couple, for a years subscription to the Friends and your main benefit will be the knowledge you are helping to keep these beautiful gardens, not only going but improving from year to year. If you are an UK Taxpayer, you can also agree for the Friends of the Gardens to claim gift aid on your subscription or donation,
Contrary to popular belief, the Jewel in the Crown of Braintree and Bocking’s amenities – the Public Gardens receives no public funding whatsoever.
They are maintained by the Trustees from the much diminished endowment fund, from the rent from the Gardens Coffeehouse, from receipts from tennis playing, and by far the most important source – the subscriptions from The Friends of the Gardens. The Gardens currently run at a deficit of from £10 – £15,000 each year. This has to be up made up from fund raising activities by the Trustees and The Friends Committee. The Christmas Raffle, The Little Legs Festival, Concerts like Rock in the Park., Collections at the Band Concerts, Supper parties, Quiz evenings Etc.all play their part.
